Internet struggles - a router thing?

Hello,

Have been having troubles with the internet here for over a month now. ISP was out, determined an Asus wifi router was toast so got a new TP Link. Also got a replacement modem while they were out. I am still finding odd connection speed drops (from my 5mb/s to next to nothing) intermittently around 1045pm (when the missus has normally gone to bed and I get back to the computer). ISP has done line tests, connection tests outside, we are pretty sure its not the modem or router or computer. I don't know what else they can check.
It just has me wondering on two culprits - some goofy wifi router setting that does a daily behind the scenes update/check of some sort OR some neighbour doing a daily massive internet breaking download that hoops the whole neighborhood. Dunno. Any thoughts on that first one?

Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

Problem with viewing videos on Facebook

Hello,

I have using Linux Mint 17 and they tell me that they are having a problem with not being able to view some type of video clips on Facebook (I am not a Facebook user - thus I know nothing about it). Is there currently an on-going problem with the Facebook application that is causing Linux Mint / Firefox users to not be able to view these video clips or does the problem belong to Linux Mint or Firefox ?

Any help will be apprecited.

Need program to batch correct incorrect image extensions

Hello,

So I have to use this particular database program that is a bit annoying. When I choose a subset of the database and export it for delivery, it converts all image extensions from their original extension to .TIF. So image1.jpg becomes image1.tif, though it retains the jpg info so it just needs to be renamed with the proper extension.
Irfanview will tell me it's a jpeg incorrectly named as a tif and offer to rename it when I load the image, but so far I haven't figured out a batch command that will work. Since the export involves many thousands of images, it's not just a matter of renaming them by hand. Any ideas?

Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

Mafia sound issues & crashes to desktop

Hello,

In the game a lot of noises will be non-existent (my car, gunshots, some environmental noises) while others (other cars, other environemntal noises and music) will be just fine. This is when I select 5.1 Surround with Hardware Mixing. With Software Mixing or with quad speaker setup the sound is fine. EAX makes no difference one way or the other.
Quad sound is OK except that I have to go into the sound properties after I play the game and reset my computer to 5.1 again (PITA). Is there a work around or a known issue here?

Computer motherboard replacement and licence issue

Hello,

My computer needs a new motherboard so I guess there must be a procedure by which Mecsoft can de-register one computer and register another. I've had several disc crashes in the past, and the third time it happened, they as good as accused me of stealing their software and were very unhappy to give me a new licence! I don't want to be in that position again, and this time I can schedule the swap. Does anyone know how to go about this so it can be done seamlessly without losing days while the licence is sorted out for the new configuration?

Please help

Motherboard Bios issue D3076-S11 G3

Hello,

I have to PCs with the motherboard type D3076-S displaying similar issues in which they are not completing POST and basically sitting on the Intel Boot agent screen and not booting into the OS. This problem occurred after someone removed a USB flash drive during the boot process. I've concluded we may have some type of corruption in bios which is preventing proper boot. I've attempted numerous methods in attempt to solve this problem without any success. These include, Bios update, attempting to get into bios settings to revert to default settings (currently not able to do so, system locks up and becomes unresponsive), removal CMOS battery. Is there some way to revert this system to default settings via on board jumpers. Any ideas at this point would be greatly appreciated.

Please help

DoW Dark Crusade Lan issues

Hello,

I am having a strange issue with Dawn of War Dark Crusade. My friends and I have been getting together occasionally for months now to play this game and have had no issues via lan play. I setup the game on my pc (XP) and one of my friends jumps in on my wife's pc (XP) and another friend of mine uses his laptop (XP). My wife recently got a new pc (Vista), and now only one or the other can connect when I create a game for lan play. We are all running the same version of the game but once one of the pc's connects to the game, the other one gets a message stating that they were refused by the host. So if the only thing that has changed is the OS of one of the machines, it stands to reason that I am missing a setting in Vista to allow both machines to connect to the game. Anyone offer any help on this?

Intermittent Internet access across the LAN, but no issues for compute

Hello,

Ok sorry for the odd subject, but I wasn’t sure how to get the most people looking at this with out being very vague. Network issues are not my forte, but since I am the office “computer guy” I get called in when something or someone screws something up. Our network here in house has a central server connected to the internet by DSL to a wireless router/modem (netopia). Not counting the server there are four desktops hardwired to the router/modem. Since there are only four ports on the back one of the ports is used to run to another wireless router (linksys). Two other computers access the network wirelessly. All the hardwired desktops must connect to the server to use a centralized scheduling program. I have yet to see any of the desktops fail to connect to the server and be useable. The problem comes from the fact that several of the desktops have intermittent Internet access. They will be able to connect, but after a period of time (nothing specific) they will quit. Sometimes the connection comes back, but most times the computer in question is rebooted and the connection is reestablished. It doesn’t happen to all of them at the same time. The server NEVER loses connection to the Internet, and the computers that connect wirelessly never lose an Internet connection. While the Internet is inaccessible these computers can still talk to the server. This is what puzzles me. If one computer can’t get to the internet none of the other computers should be able to get to the internet, correct? That would mean it is a ISP problem. If all but one can get to the internet shouldn’t that one not be able to talk to the server? That would be a cable or router issue, correct? It just doesn’t make sense. Any thoughts?

Please help

No splash screen, nothing. HDD led shows no activity. Pressing the power button powers everything off immediately. Pressing the power button again, and it boots up normally... spalsh screen to windows, all lights normal.
Anyone else seeing this?
